The 2014 annual PPAI (Press Photographers Association of Ireland ) took place recently at the RDS Dublin. Pat Kenny was the Masters of Cermeonies for The Black Tie awards ceremony and the awards were presented by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

This year’s expert panel of judges includes former Picture Editor Dermot O’Shea, as Chair of the judging panel and award-winning photographers Philip Coburn and Lefteris Pitarakis. Prizes were awarded across the 9 categories of –news, daily life, sports action, sports features, portrait, environment, politics, arts & entertainment, reportage, as well as the overall title of AIB Photojournalist of the Year Award 2014. The largest entry this year was received in the daily life and people category.

Here are two images that received commendations from the judges.

And the rest of my entry that unfortunately were not successful. I am still very happy as over 2000 images were entered and only 100 are selected for commendation from the judges.

Its not who I am underneath but what I do that defines me.
